GreenDesk

Novel Writer

Keep AI-generated text out of your novel.

GreenDesk runs a language model while you write — but it only ever suggests. Nothing it produces can reach your manuscript. Every word in the book is one you typed.

How it works

The AI gets its own panel. Your novel gets only your words.

Most writing tools put the model's output straight into your document and leave you to untangle whose sentence is whose. GreenDesk keeps a hard wall between the two, and shows you the state of that wall at all times.

01 — THE RED PANEL

The AI suggests

Continuations stream into a red panel beside your work. You read them, take an idea or a direction from them, and hit DISMISS to clear anything you don't want. They are never inserted for you.

02 — INSPIRATION & BIN

You keep or you bin

Worth remembering? Send it to Inspiration — the model stays aware of it, but it lives outside your manuscript and never counts as prose. Not worth it? Bin it.

03 — THE GREEN LIGHT

You write the prose

You type the passage yourself in the draft box and ACCEPT DRAFT to fold it in. The green light dims while a draft is unsettled and comes back once the chapter is yours again — so a lit deck means a clean manuscript.

What you get

A full manuscript tool, not a chat window.

Your own model

Point GreenDesk at an LLM on your own machine or LAN, run a small model fully on-device, or bring your own hosted API key. Your prose does not have to leave your network to get a suggestion.

Books and chapters

Multiple novels, chaptered, with a proper editor rather than a scrolling transcript. Pick up exactly where you left off.

End-to-end encrypted

Lock a book behind a passphrase and it is encrypted in the browser before it is stored. Recovery codes and per-device keys included; the server holds ciphertext.

Export anywhere

TXT, PDF and DOCX, rendered client-side with real typography controls — font, spacing, page size, margins, title page. Works offline.

Cloud sync, on request

Link a book to Google Drive or OneDrive and push or pull on demand — one document per chapter, with a per-chapter conflict dialog when both sides moved.

Phone, desktop, web

A native Android app, a Windows desktop build, and the web app — the same novels on all three.

Downloads

Install GreenDesk

These builds track the running server — they are rebuilt whenever GreenDesk is deployed.

Android

Signed APK, sideloaded. The native app is what lets a phone talk to an LLM on your own network — a browser can't.

Windows

Desktop installer (NSIS). Unsigned, so SmartScreen will warn on first run — choose More info → Run anyway.

Web

Nothing to install. Runs in the browser and installs as a PWA if you'd rather have it in your dock.

Open the web app

GreenDesk is invite-only while it is in soft release — the app asks you to sign in, and accounts are approved by hand. The downloads above will install, but you'll need an approved address to write anything.
